I'm sorry for your loss, but with the B&W CM1 speakers, it sounds like your dad knew what he was doing. As far as amps go, it doesn't make much difference for the turntable. There's a switch on the back of it marked PHONO / LINE, so that means you can partner it with almost anything on the market. The speakers though do like a bit of power, and they sound best playing at a healthy volume. For that reason, an amp with a good power output makes a lot of sense. If you're not looking to go OTT on the budget, but you'd like something that will work well with the speakers (and turntable), and maybe even allow for other things such as the TV to be connected, then I can recommend the SMSL AS400. This £240 amp is available in black and a black/silver finish. There's 85 Watts of power on tap for the 8 Ohm B&Ws, so that's plenty for the power-hungry speakers. Your turntable connects via the RCA leads. You'll need some speaker wire, and I would recommend buying some banana plugs to make the connection to the amp and the speaker neater and less fiddly. The amp comes with remote control, and there are inputs for another analogue source (cassette deck for example) and digital inputs which would cover the TV HDMI ARC connection, both coaxial and optical digital inputs if you have a idea of connecting a streamer or CD player.
