Sorry, I wrote my comment assuming you were wanting to hook to a sand filter. The original pool went from the skimmer to a paper cartridge filter and pump and then out to the outlet jet. You CAN in theory hook the skimmer directly to the outlet, but you won't get any fine particle filtering at all. You're just going to be pumping the same unfiltered water through the pool and eventually it will get dirty and deposit lots of dirt particles on the bottom of your pool. If you're going a sand filter route, follow the below: You need to remove the black pump from the bottom of the skimmer bucket and buy a replacement bottom "lid" to close the bucket of the skimmer. They sell them for cheap online. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Summer-Waves-Sand-Filter-Conversion-Kit/252749120?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=101515434&veh=seo_fpl&cn=google Then you just hook the hose from the skimmer to the new pump/filter input and the hose from the pump/filter output to the small jet port at the top left of your photo. Hookups not seen here, but I did mine with hoses from the original pool and some adapters. I went with a 19 inch filter because the dinky sand filter I got a few years ago was way too undersized.
