Hahaha! 😂 What you’ve created is the triboelectric effect! And PVC (records) are notorious for this effect. Same basic thing as dragging your socked feet on carpet and touching something, creating that that little blue spark ⚡️ static electricity. Fun times! You can help dissipate the charge with an inexpensive plasma lighter. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B098VYV9WPThere have been several studies and write ups on this. The general idea is to hold the lighter about an inch above the surface of your record and move above the surface neutralizing the negative ions.
