I am on my 6th week right now, and I try to sit up but with my leg still elevated, sucks for my back but I can do some crafts this way. I am non weight bearing for 3 months so I feel you. Things I do: crafts (changed my book covers with craft paper) , 3d sticker, watch shows, youtube, karaoke, etc. are you an active type of person though? If you are, you might wanna create a schedule of activities. In terms of elevating, yeah…you’re correct. Sooo i was delusional actually back then thinking that by week 2 I could go back to work. I work from home!!! and it was NOT possible! You’re gonna be on meds and I know meds affect people differently, but boy was I not functioning mentally and was in paiiiin. I was constantly sleepy, which led to me not being able to do much activity or walking around which honestly helped me heal very well. This might not be your case but something to keep in mind. Yeah you would need to lay down because of the need to elevate your leg above the heart to reduce swelling. In my case, I needed to elevate all the time except for when i ate breakfast/lunch/dinner (15 minutes mostly) because the swelling was SO SO PAINFUL even at week 2 at that time. This also meant that my foot was elevated 100% when i slept at night. I didnt feel uncomfortable cause i was just sleepy from the meds. By week 4, i was uncomfortable and my back would hurt. I also started to do more of the activities I listed. I bought this floor phone stand from amazon to keep my phone up and reduce neck pain, so this might be something to consider. Work wise, I am going back next week (even though yes just like you i will be non weight bearing) and had to change my normal sit to stand table to this smaller and shorter than normal sit to stand table so I can recline my seat and elevate my feet. I am 5’2” though. In addition, i bought a keyboard/mouse tray to attach to my chair. These are all my husband’s suggestion, he is an occupational therapist who does ergonomics, so i trust his judgement, still, YMMV. Sadly these items still haven’t arrived! I can update if needed. Edit: removed redundant sentence.
