I have used Hatchet and My Side of the Mountain in my adult education classes. They were well received. They are YA, but set in the wild, very descriptive stories. While not explicitly Canadian, both involve survival skills in the wilderness. And in Hatchet, he's on his way to Canada. I haven't used these in class, but they are charming mysteries by Howard Engel. The Benny Cooperman mysteries, https://www.stopyourekillingme.com/E_Authors/Engel_Howard.html, are set in a fictional Grantham, kind of a St. Catharines, Ontario. The first is The Suicide Murders. I don't know if you can find enough copies for a classroom, but they would be worth a look. Also on this site, https://www.stopyourekillingme.com/LocationCats/index.html, you can do a decent location search if you're looking for Canadian settings. And Louise Penny, a Canadian author and journalist, has published a hi interest-lo barrier novella, The Hangman, https://www.amazon.com/Hangman-Chief-Inspector-Gamache-Novel-ebook/dp/B005ZI33HE. That is a stand alone story involving her characters from her award winning Three Pines series. It is excellent. Best wishes.
