Sony WH-1000XM5/6 or Bost QuietComfort These two are the leading noise cancelling over the ear headphones (Unless your ears are shaped like Apple intended, I do not recommend earbuds). They usually retail for $300-$400, but often times are like are like 50% off - so never pay retail. One of those two are ALWAYS on sale on Prime day for example. I find them to be slightly more comfortable - but the sound blocking isn't quite as good as the Bose QC (though they are excellent at noise cancellation). I have a variation of both, and both are awesome (one for work, one for home). Just note that Active Noise Cancellation works for ambient/consistent noise, like an airplane engine or Air conditioner, but can't actively block out random noises like people speaking or cars - though the passive blocking is still decent.
