I have a large perch that goes across the whole cage width and then a couple of thin rope perches. Just make sure they don't start chewing on the fibers if you get any of those. There is no way to no upset a new bird. Just put the toys and ignore him he eventually will tell he is not the target. Also get some perches like this ones or made your own: https://a.co/d/0aJe4YRe Not only he needs them but they also help with stress because he has more places to fly to when scared. I recommend getting rid of that long perch so you can have multiple small ones in different levels and he can hop from branch to branch. And consider upgrading to a bigger cage in the future, that way you will be able to add many branches and toys without it getting cramped
