It’s not an app, but it’s a cute little book series. It’s called First Little Readers (link below)… I would read 1-2 books every night with my kids starting at age 4, and then they would eventually read them on their own. We have 4-5 levels of the first little reader books. I didn’t really need anything past that, they were both reading well on their own. Both of my older kids so far were reading chapter books by the end of kindergarten & many many more. DS finished a Harry Potter book in 3 weeks when he was 6? They are huge readers. We homeschool, so they weren’t getting instruction in reading elsewhere. We did follow a reading program in kindergarten, but they were both way beyond that at that point. These books are great! Definitely check them out. That, and if you’re in the US, your local library might have interest-specific level 1-2-3 books your kids might enjoy. I’d definitely check out the library kids section, and possibly a lower or at-skill level of First Little Readers books! If they are stuck on a word, they can spell it for you. Also, the pictures are leading to help them decode words. The stories really are cute, too! I think my kids now would be entertained to sit down with them again honestly.

We used these “first little readers” by scholastic and worked up the levels till they were confident (it goes up by letters starting from A). I would read, we would read together, then they would read. (I think we went up to box F or higher?)https://a.co/d/05e1fWUdThen we switched to the usborne “my first reading library 50 books”. These are great because there are different levels, they are funny, use phonics and have some reading comprehension puzzles at the end. We read both of these resources over and over and pretty much that’s how our kid learnt to read finally. This you can get cheaply on Facebook marketplace or eBay.https://a.co/d/0je6oOwkI saw another set today called “developing decoders” which looked great there to, I wish we had that for the more worksheet style exercises.https://a.co/d/0aMenD7q
