In order to get a good sword at a Ren Faire, you need to have at least $500 and know which shops will have the right sword. When I went to Georgia Renaissance Faire, I saw three different sword shops. Kingdom Arms, Pirate Ship, and another shop that I cannot remember the name. The last shop had Damascus gladiuses with bad sheaths. Pirate ship had wallhangers that were cheap and battle ready swords starting around $300. Kingdom of Arms sell both wooden swords and great quality swords that will not come cheap. I was able to find a Hanwei Scottish Backsword - Antiqued at the Pirate Ship for around $600 when the original Hanwei factory had closed down.
