Here's my 100% honest reply. I'm not the best person to ask for acrylic recommendations, because I have very limited experience. Here's what I'll say - I have used several random super cheap brands that were awful, but I don't remember the brand names. 😢 I will say my complaints were lack of coverage (opacity) and that they dried out very quickly even with proper storage and very little usage as I was only using them for highlights...not large areas. The ones I am currently using that work well for me are Ohuhu brand. I have the Nahuku line and the new Wai Momi line (link below, because only available on Amazon at this time). The Wai Momi are pretty cool for smaller areas. They are like a ball point pen, but with paint. They go on very smoothly and have great coverage for what I use them for. I would be a little hesitant in color by number works when it comes to some of the pale yellow, pink, and peach tones. It could take several layers to cover the black number. The prices are sometimes a bit higher than an authorized retailer, but the loyalty program is absolutely amazing). They work well for my needs and come in 24/48/72 count options, I believe. They are a direct marker with brush tip (so no shaking or prepping or constantly pumping to deal with). Ohuhu also just released a new line (Kahuku?) that has 120 colors, but it's so new there aren't as many reviews as I'd like to see before purchasing. I cannot speak for any of the other acrylic lines Ohuhu has from a personal standpoint. However, I have seen quite a few less than stellar reviews. I get the impression they are hoping to improve their reputation in the acrylic world with some of their newer lines. I have also seen many, MANY people recommend Guangna and Languo brands as excellent cheap(er) options that rival high end/professional brands in terms of quality and color selection. I truly hope you find something that works for you. I hate it when my arthritis pain and fatigue limit my ability to do the things I want to do.
They were just released this month on Amazon. Again - super confusing move from Ohuhu, since it seems like these were intended to be one of their new product releases, but the release didn’t align with any of the dates they specified for new item drops, plus, they’re currently only available on Amazon? All in all, very weird roll-out/promotional planning from Ohuhu, but these pens are honestly so good. Amazing coverage, good color selection, and I love the portable carrying case they come in!
