TC seems scary but it's actually so easy. Here's what I do... TC arrives in a plastic sealed bag with clear jelly called agar. This is the food for it while it's in the bag and should be rinsed all off the plant when you remove it from the bag. I rinse it in the sink then float it in a bowl of water for 5 minutes. Ok so it's out the bag and rinsed off and ready to pot up. I do self watering setup in 80% perlite with 20% fluval stratum. I'll put links to the self watering supplies below. I put the self watering cup with the plant inside a larger cup with a dome lid. These sizes of self watering cup and bigger dome cup gives the plant room to grow bigger leaves. I put that cup under a barina light on a shelf or in a greenhouse cabinet and WAIT. Remove dead leaves as it acclimates so nothing encourages rot. Refill the water when it gets down to the last bit. Never let it run bone dry though and don't fill too high to where it touches the bottom of the inner cup/pot. If you get algae build up in the cache cup just take a toothbrush to it in the sink. About the month mark (sometimes sooner dependent on the plants growth rate) I poke a hole in the dome lid. If it keeps doing well poke another hole in the lid 2 weeks later. Keep at that until you have about 5 to 7 holes. Then you can move to opening the dome part way. It's all about taking it slow and paying attention to how the plant responds to each change. Don't do too much all at once. Don't panic if you lose some leaves. Also be aware a small percentage of TC can be contaminated and you can do everything right and it could die. Just like any plant. If you want to message me at any time for help with your TC journey I'd be happy to give advice. I've done over 100 tcs not just alocasia and had some great success.
