Id say get a tidradio h9 $70 with coupon https://a.co/d/09aOA3dk It is programmable by phone which is great so you dont have to mess with chirp for your first radio and then for the antenna i would say look up Nagoya on Amazon and pick one that you like. Dm me if u want more help, I got my tech about a year ago and general this February, it is loads of fun. I also know guys who do tests for free on zoom if you would like I can send you their info. I would recommend going t a local club for your test though just so you get to know the local hams. And definitely try to go to a local clubs field day this month.
