Any aduino kit will be great for him. I would get a larger one with many sensors and parts so he can play it longer. If you get kit with ESP32 that one supports wifi and he can tinker a bit more complex devices and control them by his phone. That’s also means a bit higher complexity. Regardless what you choose for him, there are plenty of tutorials and videos for any single problem. He will learn a lot and will love these little things.
