My best advice is to not try fishing first time out. Find a quiet bit of non moving water to practice launch & recovery, getting in and out of the boat in water over your head, and swimming with your PFD on, rigging and loading, unloading from the car. PFDs Dry bag, about 10 liter for towel and a change of clothes. Dry box, about 4"x 6" x 2" for phone, wallet, keys etc., A paddle leash ( because you look silly trying to hand paddle chasing a paddle that's floating away) 30 ft of light rope (5/16"), one end tied to the bow handle, to be used as a dockline or tow rope Some 550 cord to tie things to the kayak that you don't want to lose. A large sponge for nuisance water A signal whistle attached to your PFD Sunscreen Polarized sunglasses are really helpful I recommend this for your cellphone (check for fit): https://a.co/d/0icf714R
