I know a lot of people in this sub have had to go up in size or into a wide (or both), but I was able to get into my normal size. One trick that helped is to lace the eyelets every other one to give a ton of extra room. I was in Asics before break, but found I had different needs post-surgery (also a trimal, I'm about 5.5 months out). It's likely a smidge too early for you, but highly recommend getting fitted at a running store when you're ready for a long term shoe....I ended up in Brooks Glycerine, which do have some extra room around the ankle. Hokas are also highly recommended in this sub. Compression socks help a ton with swelling...make sure to put them on in the morning before you swell up and keep it on all day (not to bed). My PT recommended a sock sock vs the ones with the x-strap, but she and my surgeon did not want me in a brace, and the x-strap ones are a brace...so depends on what you're going for. I personally liked these socks because they weren't too tall and had some cushion. And continue to ice and elevate of course to help with swelling. Congrats on transitioning to shoe...that's a big step (pun intended) 😄
