I use aluminum guyline tensioners i bought on Amazon. Dead simple to use. They're Chinese and probably a knock off of some name brand product but I don't know which. My setup is: loop of shock cord on the tarp tie outs. Then guyline tied to shock cord loop (just a basic lark ahead). Guyline runs through hole in aluminum tensioner, then a stopper knot at the end. Stake is unconnected. When I set up the tarp I hammer the stake in, then pull the tensioner to the end of the guyline, wrap that around the stake once then back up towards the tarp until it's tight then clip the tensioner onto the taut guyline and I'm done. Here's the product I use: https://a.co/d/0j3nScJg Here's a video of it in use: https://youtube.com/shorts/wbh1ICYGB1Y?si=GD2arpWoTt_bcfMz
