I have a separate bug net that goes over the hammock and what i did was buy some small fiberglass rods. I believe the ones i got were made for flags or streamers for dance. They're flexible and have plastic covers on the end. I tie it perpendicular to the bug net on my ridgeline and pull the bug net over it. It acts as a spreader bar and keeps it wel away from my face.
