My dog had TPLO on both knees, a year apart. He had to spend a few months confined to our front hallway (bc of the layout of my apartment, it was the only logical place). It is critical that you follow the vet’s instructions for healing. I got too casual on the second leg (“we’ve done this before”) and got yelled at by the vet, oops. But he healed well. Don’t be afraid to ask for tranquilizers/sedatives to help keep him calm and inactive in those first few critical weeks. I ended up getting my dog a wagon to take him to the park for mental stimulation, he loved it. (I had the custom “bumper sticker” patch made on Etsy, the recovery was tough on both of us because they really can’t bear weight on that leg for while and the humor helped!)
