Cable locks can be cut noiselessly with hand tools. A buddy’s bike was secured with a lock like the one you’re using and it was defeated when someone hit it with a half brick…. What you’ve got just isnt enough I secure our bikes (road or mtn bike, depending on the weekend) either to the tongue of the parked trailer or preferably on the roof of my F-150s cap using a chain and lock like this that I bought from a local locksmith. I bought 7 feet of chain (cut to length by the locksmith) and 8’ would be the proper length. It can’t be cut with bolt cutters and the company I bought it from forbids their staff from cutting it with an angle grinder if the chain isn’t secured in a vice because the square links frequently catch the grinder and injure the person cutting it. I see this as a benefit… Keeping the bikes on my truck is also advantageous because if the locked truck gets jostled too much the alarm will go off.
