We have a fairly rambunctious GSD and I had a similar thought about a “barrier” because she thinks she’s a people and belongs in the front seat. The biggest issue I found with metal barriers is that they tend to either attach to the headrest or have some kind on spring tension that presses against the roof. Headrest attachment style tended to be too short and had too much space between the “bars” Pressure/tension mounts won’t work with a glass roof (I have a ‘23 Lariat). We ended up using a seatbelt to harness set up. With a back seat cover (Ruff Liners Truck Back Seat Cover... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C872JVDW?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share ) While it keeps her in the back, it doesn’t prevent paws with claws sneaking up front. Not sure if that would work in your situation but might be a part of an overall solution using attachment and a barrier. Good luck with whatever set-up you end up getting.
