Matte or shiny lamination? If it's matte you can try boosting up your contrast a little bit to offset the dulling effect. But I have my contrast a I think like 2 on my printer? And the ones I use seem to work well. Here is my technique that I am pretty happy with. Supplies Koala Brochure Double-Sided Glossy Photo Papers 42 lb (160g) Bleidruck Holographic Inkjet Uinkit 3 Mil Matte Thermal Laminating Pouches Laminator with a cold roll feature Decent Inkjet printer Silhouette Cameo or manual cutting Process Take your Holographic sticker paper and peal back 1 to 2 inches of the backing off the top of the page and crease the backing Take a sheet of the Photo paper and align it with the page and press it against the 1 to 2 inches of exposed sticker paper so it attaches Go to your laminator and make sure it has the cold feature turned on an is cold (DO NOT USE IF IT IS HOT OR YOU WILL GET BAD CURLING). Feed in the top to the combined sheet while you hold/pull the laminator back away, this should result in a smooth sheet of paper with a foil front and a paper back. Print on your paper, with the front of the card foiled and the back of the card not foiled. Do this again with another sheet of paper. You need two prepared sheets or to have a throw away piece of paper for the next step. Take two sheets and face the foil/front side in towards each other so both exposed sides are the backs of the cards. Take a matte laminate pouch and put the two aligned sheets inside. On your laminator, set it to the 5mm setting. Once it is at temp, feed the pouch with the two sheets in from the top. Feed it through again along the long side Trim off the laminate edges from all 4 sides to free up both sheets. You now have foiled sheets that have a matte laminated back. Cut them. Please note, if you use a Silhouette like me, foils are a bit more finicky to cut. You might have to occasionally use masking tape over registration marks, and you might have to tweak your cut settings alot to get through the thicker more gummy type texture causes by the sticker paper. The end result are cards that look really nice and have decent snap and feel. I am very happy with the results and I prefer the look over non-foiled cards honestly. I loved the feel of the double sided 48lb glossy koala paper, once it was laminated with 3mil laminate. My issue was that I hated how the matte laminate washed out the black borders and made some text fuzzy. I’ve since switched to a slightly thicker paper, a 67lb (10.4mil thick) semi-gloss, and I’m only laminating the back side. This brings me to just so slightly over the thickness of a real card (real is 12, I’m at 13.4) and the front side is crystal clear. I do miss a bit of the rigidity of full laminate, but once it’s in a sleeve I can’t notice the difference unless I specifically feel for it. Edit- I’m also in the process of trying clear laminate. Should arrive tomorrow. I’m gonna test it with all my different paper types and I can report back if you want.
