Camp 4 is way better than Crane Flat for your situation. Crane Flat is a 30 minute drive from the Valley. Camp 4 is right at the center of the Valley with a shuttle stop right there. Also of note is since you're coming in on a bus you could stay 1 night in the backpackers camp near North Pines without a reservation if you want to come 1 day early. Yes it's fine to leave your stuff in your tent, but I wouldn't leave valuables like a phone/passport/etc. Camp 4 is a shared campground so you'll be with other people at your site, which is actually great, hopefully you'll meet some people to have fun with. I'd HIGHLY recommend bringing a tube and floating the Merced River thru the valley. It's hot this time of year in the Valley and there should still be enough water for it next week. It's the best Lazy River ride in the world; the views are sublime. Start at 11 AM so the sun is overhead. It feels colder once the sun drops behind the trees. You drop in at the bridge near Curry Village, and take out at Sentinel Beach, or Cathedral Beach for a longer ride. Deflate the tube and take the free shuttle back to camp 4. There will be other people on the water and it's really mellow. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0G8H7PG43?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title tube https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0G8H7PG43?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title pump (or you could probably find people blowing up tubes at their cars in the curry village parking lot and ask to use their pump. When you're done you could gift the tube to someone else, or even sell it and get your money back. There's a bulletin board at the camp 4 kiosk you could list it. But I wouldn't see it too quickly, you may want to do it twice LOL. There's a grocery store at Yosemite Village, smaller ones at Yosemite Lodge and Curry Village. There's various food options. The cafeteria at Yosemite Lodge is an easy walk from Camp 4 and is great for breakfast. I'd do that for breakfast, buy stuff at a grocery store for lunch (take with you on hikes, etc.). And hit up some take out / sit down places for dinner. I'd much rather bring a tube than cooking gear! The pizza deck at Curry Village is really good, especially after a day of hiking or being on the water it's so yummy. I can get busy so I'd try to be there by 5. Various other options too (hamburgers, burritos, Degnan's deli, etc.) There's not a whole lot of places to charge. There's usually one outlet in the campground bathrooms. I just read the comment above that you're not supposed to charge phones there but many people do. What I'd do is get a power bank. This link is a two pack I bought that work great. It's super nice to have one traveling anytime (like when you're on a plane and your ticket is on your phone, so you don't have to worry about your phone going dead) each of the packs will charge your phone from 0% to 100% about 2 times each. So if they're fully charged they could power your phone for like 4 days. And only $10 each. So you could leave one charging in the bathroom (you'll need a wall charger) and if it disappears not biggy, but I wouldn't leave my phone unattended there. If you do the river float either bring a dry bag, or one ziplock bag inside another for your phone, passport, etc. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XFBN7HX?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_2&th=1 In SF, I recommend getting Clam Chowder in a sourdough bread bowl at the take out counter at Boudin at Fisherman's Wharf. The oldest operating business in SF. Tons of great things to see in SF. As long as you avoid the bad parts (the Tenderloin, SOMO) and don't leave stuff in a car it's a very safe city. Walking onto the GG bridge is amazing. Riding a street car is fun (you may be able to take it to Fisherman's Wharf). Alcatraz is cool and you get to go out on the bay to get there.
