I know some people don't like acetone, but I've tried other removers and I haven't found one that's better than just regular acetone. Non-acetone removers sometimes take forever, so you have to leave them on longer and I feel that they end up just as drying as acetone. I've tried Mineral Fusion and it works great, but it's expensive and I've heard some people have issues with it causing peeling. I never had that issue though, so it's worth a shot if you really want to avoid acetone. I just use the regular Onyx brand acetone (usually the blue one) with a few drops of glycerin added to make it a little less drying. I also use these nail clips. I unroll a cotton ball and break it into pieces, soak them in the acetone, then use the nail clips to hold the cotton on until I can wipe the polish off. It's pretty quick, and I paint my nails 3-4 times per week and I do not believe this method damages my nails at all. I will say that if you have been going to salons for years, you might just have a lot of damage to grow out. I definitely did, and that might be why your nails feel so weak after removing your polish. Mine were awful when I decided to switch to just nail lacquer, but they feel much healthier now.
