There are quite a few ways you can make Pallet House easier to use for advanced creations. Here's all of the things I've done, hopefully they're helpful to you and I'm happy to answer any further questions! Make sure you're in Pro Mode for Pallet House, it gives you a lot more tools to work with and it's pretty much a requirement for some of the later strategies Have a reference image at the ready to work off of. People post their creations to websites like TomoPattern and TomodachiShare so you can directly see what they look like in the Pallet House editor. Some of them even have in-depth tutorials. Be creative with your use of shapes, stamps, and text. Don't feel like you need to freehand absolutely everything! Consider how you can make small alterations to things that the game already has, or use the copy and paste function to duplicate, flip, and resize things to make it easier on you. Living The Grid is a website that will let you upload an image and then help you scale it down and condense the colours in it to make it easier to copy into your game. It has a great paint-by-numbers option that I found really useful and fun! Using images that are already pixel art or that have limited colours is better for this, but you can really go wild with making photorealistic things as well, it just takes a long time. If you want to "trace" a reference image, you can use a capture card and OBS fairly easily. I got this capture card off of amazon and it works perfectly in OBS. You plug the HDMI that's connected to the dock on your switch in one end, and plug the USB end into your computer, then download OBS (it's free!) and add a new "Video Capture Device". Then you can drag your reference image into OBS, use a filter to set the opacity at 50%, line it up with your drawing canvas, and voila! I ended up also making an OBS scene that captured parts of my browser when I loaded up Living The Grid so that I could directly overlay the colours with my screen and match them exactly. Let me know if you'd like help with something like that. Finally, the thing I've landed on doing most often now is using the program TomodachiDrawer (I think there's also a program called Riidraw that does something similar but requires an extra piece of equipment. For this, you'll need a computer, a RP2040 microcontroller or a Raspberry Pi Pico (that's what I used), a cable to connect the microcontroller to your computer and one to connect to your switch if your computer doesn't have USB-C ports. The software will let you load an image, resize it so it fits the canvas, choose how many colours you want to have in it (more colours=longer drawing time), and then it will load instructions into the microcontroller to recreate that image in Pallet House. Then, you go into the editor, make sure you're in Pro Mode, plug the microcontroller into your switch (it will recognise the microcontroller as a wired controller, and don't worry, there isn't any risk of getting banned because of this or causing console errors!) and sit back as it draws the image for you! It usually takes over an hour for complicated images but I've found it to be the best way to add photorealistic custom items, and also recreate my favourite shirts in-game! As far as amiibos go, there isn't any support for them in this game like Animal Crossing has. Any Rosalina mii you've seen online has been made by another person for their own game. And although there isn't any online sharing between games, you can copy a mii or item from someone else's game by doing local play (meaning your switches have to be physically close to each other). Maybe see if your area has a gaming meetup to exchange miis and items, or start one yourself!
