hm okay so the red light is always on, even when my system is not playing any audio. i double and triple checked it’s definitely 16bit 48khz, the only other option it even offers is 16bit 96khz. i cannot select any formats, im not even sure where i would go on my pc to see that haha i dont think the cable has failed since the usb to optical adapter is brand new and the optical cable i just used on saturday and it worked (albeit with a different method of recording) the gadget that is making the red light is this: AUTOOUTLET USB to Optical Audio Adapter the only difference is that i did not use the optical cable that was provided, i used the one that came with the mz r70, the only difference is that the end (where the red light comes out of) can actually fit into the walkman now appreciate you trying to help as well!
