Lacking a clearly defined budget, I'll look at the sub $200/$3500 range. That will exclude OLEDs by default. Among LCDs, IPS panels are of higher quality than VA in this range... especially if color accuracy (design, photo/video editing) or pixel response (gaming, movies) are important. Your setup and use is great for 1080p gaming and as such, I'd look at monitors in the range of 22-26" for optimal sharpness and screen area. That's a good PPI (pixels per inch) for a monitor that's arm's length or closer. It should fit on a desk with a laptop without issue. If you're in a bright room, you'll want a monitor that can get bright. LCDs do better than OLEDin this regard. If you're one of those people who upgrades their gadgets every 3-4 years OLEDs are a good option for people who primarily game. However, LEDs in the panel degrade over time especially if you use the screen at maximum brightness or have a lot of static images on the screen (like the static elements of your drawing app). So, if you wanted something that would last more than 4 years without any change to image quality an LCD panel is better.
