Relevant vocabulary: Every day as you go about your day, have imaginary conversations with yourself in Spanish about what you are doing and what is around you. Any words that you do not know or any concepts you don't know how to express, write them down in a little notebook you carry in your pocket. Look these things up later during your study time. This is what I did for years. Now I can talk about technical subjects related to my work, I can talk about all my hobbies and interests, politics, religion, whatever. As for grammar, in the 20+ years I've been learning and using Spanish, this is the absolutely most helpful thing I ever came across for learning Spanish as a native English speaker: English Grammar for Students of Spanish. This book teaches English and Spanish grammar side by side with examples and tests. You already have internalized the grammar rules of English if you are a native speaker, and this book helps build on your knowledge of grammar and applies it to Spanish.
