My setup allows me to use sleeves for the majority of my collection, but since the boxes are tall I can keep higher value CDs in the jewel case if I want. I have over 1100 CDs currently stored with room for many more. I don't have many records, but the kallax footprint allows for records too. My requirements was for it balance cheap/robust, mix of sleeves/cases, scale to several thousand CDs, and not be a rack of shelves that I have to dust.
