Used this flying back to USA from Italy. Took it on a bus in Italy without issue. It was absolutely dreadful to carry the bike in it for more than 15 minutes, but it sounds like that is not what you need it for. I fit my 58cm Surly with drop bars and 29x2.1” tires easily and had room for camping gear/bags/shoes/helmet.
