I had this issue last year when I moved to a narrow hallway walkup (not in NYC, but so narrow it might as well be lol): had to return a sofa I bought first cause couldn’t get it up. Went with a boneless sectional in the end, cause it arrived packed in boxes. Was super concerned with comfort, but it ended up being great: I spend most of my home-time on it, whenever guests come over, we all lounge in it, watch movies etc. I have this one: https://a.co/d/001J1yP9, but there are def “loungier” options out there with chaises etc.
