I'm not too sure exactly where the parasites come from but most the time they are introduced primarily when you receive a new group of medaka, which is why quarantining new specimens is mandatory for the longevity of your fish. Quarantine should last between 1-2 weeks. Just observe for normal behavior. watch feeding, behavior, and fins. most common signs of parasites is white poop, lethargic behavior, not eating properly, and skinny body shapes. here is a blog from SNR medaka USA talking about the initial process you should follow when you receive your medaka. here in the states, i used Expel P which uses levamisole hydrochloride to help fight internal parasites in the fish. you should use it on your pond before adding your fish as well as into your quarantine tub just to ensure there are no issues. also avoid temperature and pH swings if you plan on water changes. this can also affect fish behavior. TLDR: quarantine new fish and even plants before adding to pond to prevent parasites.
