Be honest with her about why you aren't. Some dentists are open to hearing why you're having trouble- for example depression, other conditions that make dental care challenging right now- and can help you adapt. Will you switch overnight to brushing twice a day and flossing every day? Probably not. I disclosed to my dentist about my depression and lupus, which affects my energy levels. Some days I don't have enough energy to even get out of bed to brush my teeth, let alone twice a day. My dentist gave some solutions that have been quite helpful, particularly those little disposable toothbrushes that have toothpaste in them (like these, or using chewing gum that has fluoride in it, like trident. I try to keep some with me, and on flareup days I've got the mini toothbrushes in my room. Is it perfect? No, but all people need to adapt, and this is my way of meeting the dentist halfway.

Idk why people are being so aggressive. Usually the sub is pretty supportive. I’ve been in the sub for like 2 years now and I see people confess to only rinsing after meals all the time. And they also just say it’s because it’s inconvenient. Then they just brush later when they can. You’ve just now found out you’re not one of the people who can do that. I’m the same way! My family has terrible dental genes. I definitely feel I inherited that. Colgate sells mini toothbrushes that have toothpaste pre-applied making it super easy to carry them with you. If you’re a girl - I bought a little bag that could fit a kids size toothbrush, mini toothpaste, and a couple floss picks. Once I got in the habit, it didn’t seem like a big deal. Since I was putting my trays on clean teeth all the time, I only washed my trays 1-2x a day. I didn’t worry about waiting 30 minutes after eating. I just used a kids soft brush to gently get any residue off and did a big brush 2x a day. I was not able to give up snacking lol. Just brushed more. Didn’t have any cavities. And if there’s an occasional time when you can’t brush, don’t sweat it! You got this! It sucks to find out it’s harder than you thought. It’s valid to feel dejected. But you do have a good attitude and are willing to make changes. So I think things will still work out!
