Barn door after the horses have bolted! How to Apply CitriStrip For an effective finish removal, follow these steps: [1, 2] Prep the Area: Ensure the room is well-ventilated and wear chemical-resistant gloves and safety eyewear. [1, 2] Apply Generously: Pour or brush a thick, even layer of the gel onto your project. Do not over-brush or spread it too thin, as it must stay wet to work. [1, 2, 3] Cover for Maximum Effectiveness: For stubborn, thick layers, cover the gel with plastic wrap. This prevents the stripper from drying out and allows it to sit for up to 24 hours. In the old days we'd use a torch today best to use a heat gun.
I like to use citristrip https://a.co/d/03TES4Xy as I was in an apartment and it was easier to work with and less fumes. Took abit longer but I put it in a paint tray and brushed it after 30min to an hour and it worked well. Then I washed it well and used alcohol to make sure the patina applied evenly. I think I used apple cider vinegar till I got a darkness I wanted and tossed it in an empty bucket or empty detergent bottle with some small rocks and water and shook it for a few minutes to get the finish. Then dry quickly. I polished the choil but that was mostly for the Esee 6. I had some rust issues at first due to being in a high humidity area in Maine but I fixed that and now make my own dyi blade blalm to protect it and have had no issues. I took it apart and applied at the tang under the scales too. Just make sure it’s fully dry before you do that. Dyi balm:Equal parts Beeswax and Microcrystalline or other petroleum based WaxThen a good amount of food grade mineral oil and petroleum jellyMet and let it solidify till you get the consistency you want. I like mine like a balm but in higher heat you may want a harder higher beeswax solution. Apply to a rag and clean your knife after use and you will have no issues. I did it awhile back ago here is the post on my esee6 I also ended up doing my 4hmhttps://www.reddit.com/r/FixedBladeEdc/s/LwqSiDgLYS
