We have a half GSD half Dutch Shepherd, she has been a whole other beast from my previous dogs (regular GSDs and a rescue Husky). It really took us leveling up as owners. My dog has two walks a day (each walk is half free sniff and half structured), two 20 minute training sessions and a 20-30min play session. A really big help for us when she was under a year old was mandatory crating, she did not know how to turn off and rest. When she was overtired she had the zoomies, the bities and the crazies. 20-30 mins in the crate was a big help. The other big help was a flirt pole for play. It tired her out without tiring me out. Another helpful play session was a game with tug toy and teaching her the command "Around." Around means she runs around whatever I point at. We play tug of war until I say drop, then I tell her "around" and point to a tree or a lawn chair and then control when she reengages with the tug toy. I mix up the reengagement with "gentle" or "hard". I also really suggest getting him tired before a walk with play or a training session. It really helps my girl be calmer and less pully on a walk.
