In my opinion, it is most likely, in this order, mycoplasma, a different kind of respiratory infection, coryza, conjunctivitis or a physical trauma such as a piece of foreign debris in the eye. The type of discharge with the swollen lids and bubbly eyes can sometimes help with diagnosing. A watery discharge points more toward mycoplasma, while a cheesy, pus like discharge that smells horrific is more likely coryza. Very often, you will not be able to hear respiratory issues from a chicken until it is almost too late. At the very least, at the very first sign of lethargy, swelling of the other eye, swelling of the sinuses, any kind of faint breathing noise or rattling or clicking sound, sneezing or mouth breathing and I would treat for Mycoplasma/a respiratory infection. I'm going to cut and paste below some info I just commented to someone else. I would recommend ordering the Tiagard now. Even if you dont end up using it this time, you should always keep some on hand. A respiratory infection in a chicken can go from seeing zero symptoms to death pretty much over night: "It's most likely mycoplasma. Doxy/tylan is very effective (everyone should have some in their chicken 1st aid kit for respiratory infections) and I could give you a link on where to buy it for chickens without a prescription if you are in the US but it would be faster for you to buy Tiagard 12.5% from Amazon. For most places in the US it's 1 day shipping. It is very important that you treat them quickly. Tiagard is very bitter tasting. You will want to add 15 ml of Tiagard to 1 gallon of drinking water that contains 2 cups of apple juice to help mask the taste. Made sure that the apple juice does not contain artificial sweeteners, because they can be toxic to chickens. First mix the water and apple juice, make 1 gallon total and then add the Tiagard in order to keep the dosage correct. Treat the entire flock by removing all other water sources. VetRX can help open their airways but only in the way that vicks on a kid's chest helps them breathe better when sick. It is not a cure, only supportive care. Order Tiagard immediately and treat ASAP." OP, if you end up thinking that it is just conjunctivitis or an eye irritation, you can use Vetericyn Pink Eye Spray. It's OTC, Tractor Supply often has it in stock, locally in stores and it's effective.
