This is a Hue Forum, so we are all expected to say "Buy Hue". But there are so many other options. I use these defuser channels mounted with the clips under the cabinet and as far from the wall as possible. Because the LEDs are mounted with spring clips and connectors, I can remove all of this in 10 minutes and replace it without using tools. I'm thinking now I want the RGBW strip closer to the wall and a second tunable white strip one foot from the wall. After testing, I found I want the white color temperature in the ceiling the under cabinet to match and also that RGB works best if closer to the backspash. So I will have a double row of LED strips. I made the system like Lego blocks because I knew I'd be changing things. It is inexpensive. As for annoyance when it turns on and off, yes. But you can fix that with a 2 or 4-second transition where the brightness ramps up or down. And if the ceiling lights are already on, you won't notice.

Adding diffuser channels to those LED strips would go a long way IMO, both in terms of looking nicer and reducing the harshness of the exposed diodes. Something like this.
