I love the Kenmore Intuition Bagged Upright Vacuum. I used it in a salon for about 4 years. That Vacuum powered through hair like nothing else. Just recently because I used it in a salon I switched to the newer model that has the anti wrap brushroll, and man what a world of difference that has made. The bags take forever to fill, they may look small but it took me 4-6 months to fill the bag. I will say the bag indicator won't tell you it's full until there is dust sticking out of the inlet. Otherwise these 2 vacuums outperform most other models I have tried in the salon. Given your "hairy" situation I highly recommend these vacuums. Kenmore Intuition Bagged Upright

If you're happy with Kenmore 600 series. And there are no sebo or Miele dealers around you. I would suggest staying with Kenmore. Kenmore Intuition uprights have tools on board and cord length of 30ish feet. I use one for my side business in cleaning a salon. The bags look small but take forever to fill. I will say based of your comment on dragging around a canister is annoying but effective and wanting lighter weight, I'm going to advise getting a Sebo Felix. While many on this sub praise the canisters from sebo, I would highly recommend the felix to get away from the need to drag something around your house. They do offer plenty of tools for regular cleaning and pet cleaning. They also offer hepa grade bags. Someone will probably recommend the D4 from Sebo. Going back to your want of something lighter I feel the felix is going to be your best option. Unfortunately Miele no longer makes an upright vacuum. Love my Maverick, great for large spaces. They have a stick vacuum that can stand like an upright but battery operated and bagless. If you don't want to spend copious amounts of money, I would also recommend Kenmore Intuition Bagged Upright Vacuum. They are lightweight and great for pet hair.
