Get a tiny flashlight with a diffuser on it to see the quick super easily on most nails. This makes it much faster and less stressful. A Nitefox k3 mini flashlight is what we use. $10https://a.co/d/0c9nXWHv For us, trimming is a two person job. My wife holds wrapped in a towel and I get each foot out to trim.
Your rabbit savvy vet should be able cut their nails for you quick and easy. Using a tiny flashlight with a diffuser on it helps tremendously to easily and quickly see the quicks if you can get some else to help. Even most rabbits with dark nails, this helps a lot. This is the model we use: https://a.co/d/0dPSEmaT
Nail trims are a 2 person job. One to hold and one to trim. Getting a tiny flashlight with a diffuser on it makes it substantially easier to see the quick and make an accurate cut quickly, which reduces the stress on the bun and the human. I’d post a pic that demonstrates, but I guess this sub doesn’t allow that. :/ This is the light we use though. https://a.co/d/0cPOYNhG
Trimming nails is a two person job for us. One to hold (wrapped in a towel works well), while the other person pulls each foot out to trim. Having a tiny flashlight with a diffuser on it helps tremendously, as you can very quickly and easily see the quick and where to cut. This reduces the stress of the rabbit and the humans because it takes much less time. 🙂 Using a cleaned “onion bag net” to pull over their paws will pull the fur back and let the nails push through can sometimes help, as well as lightly dampening the very tips of the fur so it clumps together slightly. I can’t post a pic here fur some reason, but this is the flashlight w/ diffuser we use. https://a.co/d/057Gd5SE
