Purchase advice: Rattle can spray paint for high reflective chrome finish I recently ordered my first 3D print which will be a gift, but it needs to be painted. I don't have an air brush so I'm sticking to rattle cans and then for fine details acrylic hand painting with brushes. JW if someone could spot check my purchase list and address the questions and steps to make sure I get the desired result (High reflective chrome finish). Looking to keep it budget so no more than $15 USD / can of paint. 1- Primer: I'm told that a base of glossy black is best for Chrome/ reflective silver finishes. Is this true or should I opt for a more neutral gray gloss primer? 2- Regarding the primer, is 1 coat fine? Or should it be multiple coats with sanding between them? If so, how many coats? 3- Should I be getting a dedicated primer, or is any High gloss 2-in-1 Black (or gray depending on q1) Paint + Primer good enough for a base coat? I'm looking at the following 4 options: Rust-Oleum 2X Automotive Enamel Custom Spray 5-in-1 Spray Paint, 12 oz, Gloss Black Rust-Oleum 249418 Automotive Sandable Primer Spray, 12 oz, Black (not gloss? will this be an issue) Dupli-Color DAP1698 Black 12 oz. Hot Rod Sand Able Primer Aerosol Dupli-Color MC100 Metalcast Automotive Spray Paint - Base Coat Anodized Coating - 11 oz Aerosol Can (will this get a shiny chrome finish or should I stick to one of the 3 black options above) Chrome Coat- picking between these options: Dupli-Color ECS101007 Instant Enamel Metallic Automotive Paint – Chrome Spray Paint - 11 oz. Aerosol Can (how important is it that the primer and top coat are the same brand?) Rust-Oleum 7718830 Stops Rust Bright Coat Metallic Spray Paint, 11 Oz, Chrome, 2 Pack Rust-Oleum 249128 Painter's Touch 2X Ultra Cover Spray Paint, 11 oz, Metallic Aluminum Krylon K05590007 COLORmaxx Spray Paint and Primer for Indoor/Outdoor Use, Metallic Silver 11 Ounce (Pack of 1) Is my process correct: Sand down coarse grit. Primer coat 1. Dry. Sand. Primer coat 2. Dry. Top chrome 1 coat. Dry. Acrylic paint detail brush work. Dry. Top coat high gloss (I have a can of this on hand so I figured I'd use it) Sorry for all the links and questions. This is my first project and again, a gift on a budget so I want to learn as much as I can before even touching the paint. TIA
