From what I've read and heard, only about 25% of the population is affected by mold. IMHO, we are genetically inclined to it but I personally don't support Dr. Shoemaker's HLA-DR test - a Scandinavian study debunked that. My body doesn't clear toxins and like another commenter here, I take "methyl-free" B (& Multi) vitamins (Seeking H) bc I've genetically tested for a variant in my MTHFR gene. I've also read that mold tests are not 100% accurate (even ERMI). You are NOT imagining this; you are NOT crazy; your various relocations/travel are the telltale signs you're being affected by mold IMO - I'm not a professional tho. I moved into a new build 2 yrs. ago and timed the build for the driest time of the yr. after a friend cautioned me that new const is open to the elements of rain & snow. Mold in new const lumber is a real thing should you want to search it. In addition, when in FL, I heard of a water leak in the concrete foundation of a 6 mo. "new" home. I don't know what the foundation is in your parent's home but it might be interesting to find out IF the mold inspector used a "high quality" professional moisture meter (they're not cheap) to inspect it (& basement) and if not, get a second opinion esp. if the house is still under warranty. And it's helpful to hire a *reputable* mold inspector vs. a residential new home "real estate" inspector - huge difference. And do NOT-NOT-NOT use the builder's inspector - hire your own!!! When I was renting, the safest place I lived was in a newer construction apt. Hopefully, your new apt was built in the last 5 yrs. and it might be a good idea to check under the sinks and around plumbing for any water stains before you move in (if possible). You might get some temporary relief before you move by camping out in a tent in the backyard; it's summer there and doable. A mask that filters out mold spores might help too. My best recommendation to you is to acquire a digital copy (I'm paperless now bc of mold) of this book and read applicable chapters BEFORE you move so that you don't cross-contaminate your new apt. Pls don't buy used as you don't know where it's been. It helped me tremendously - good luck! It takes a long time to recover but it's possible. https://www.amazon.com/Beginners-Guide-Mold-Avoidance-Multisystem/dp/1973356007
