It's very much cultural in China to have a husband and family before you are 30. You are seen as an oddball or dysfunctional if you can't find one. It's similar in the US to an extent (in some places) but over there it's really intense. Very much ingrained into their way of life. There is also the issue where a lot of women (and men) who are successful or well educated will not date down, and only want someone similar or better off than them. https://www.amazon.com/Age-Ambition-Chasing-Fortune-Truth/dp/0374535272 Great book that touches a little on it. And also a good read if you want to understand China better in general from the local perspective.
