No. Get some water softener cleaner (it's a liquid mild acid). Take the brine tank.out, lay it on its side and spray out any debris in the bottom. If it has salt in it, dispose of that first, you don't want to kill your lawn with it. As soon as you have it hooked up, put 2 gallons of water into the brine tank, and add the cleaner down the float tube. Force a regen cycle to clean out all the stagnet water and clean the bead bed. The city water has 1-4 ppm chlorine to help clean it. When it has completed, look to see if there is water in the bottom of the brine tank (at least 5 inches). if not, add three gallons of tap water.
