If you love rock, get a starter electric bundle. One that comes with a starter amp, bag, cords, everything. I played on acoustic for years and yearned for an electric because I love rock, and only got one this year. I didn’t want to spend a ton on one til I get really good. I regret not getting it sooner. I got the Fender Squire Sonic package, and it came with a free 3 months of Fender Play, which I’ve learned a lot from. I was able to skip through things I already knew from learning on acoustic. You can choose the genre you want to learn and Rock has been fun. Was lucky enough to get it on sale, but I think otherwise this is a good value: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Fender-Squier-Sonic-Stratocaster-Pack-Surf-Green-Bundle-with-Frontman-10G-Amp-Gig-Bag-Instrument-Cable-Strap-Picks-and-3-Month-Fender-Play/18348066332 Also maybe depends where you live/who you live with. Like if you don’t want to disturb others. My roommates in college would have probably appreciated me having the ability to play electric with headphones on so that it sounds quieter to everyone around me. Acoustic will always be loud cause it has that full bodied sound, and it’s not as fun to strum gently to make it quieter. I’d go electric if that’s what you love and will more likely stick with. With an electric, you can still play acoustic stuff when you turn overdrive off, but with an acoustic, you’re limited to just that.
