Here are some “scientific” articles that support the idea that consciousness might be separate from our brain. (This is not full-blown consciousness but rather a raw phenomenal first-person perspective that the brain then embellishes to produce our full-blown consciousness). I put ‘scientific’ in quotes because the nature of the topic doesn’t lend itself well to scientific study. These are ‘scientific’ in the sense that they try to follow a logical path of reasoning and thought experiments to arrive at a hypothesis and a theory.
