I wear diabetic slippers now. They're easily adjustable, and since I also have mobility issues due to a spinal fusion, I can put them on and fasten them using an extendable grabber/gripper tool that you might use to pick things up off the floor without bending. They're sort of like normal shoes when on, and some have cute colors and patterns, but mostly I wear the black ones.
