Every time my HDs disconnect from my Mac, it's due to those connectors and the board going bad.You can remove the internal HD unit from the case and use a SATA cable: https://a.co/d/0dJlA64eIf it works, then just buy a new enclosure for the drive: https://a.co/d/0gwF9up5Video on how to remove the HD: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/NwsdMalpXU4

The Vulcan Z is a 2.5" SATA drive, totally different, and slower, critter. Still fast though. Just nowhere near as fast as the NVMe drive. Disconnect the white ribbon cable and black head from the drive. The ribbon and head stay with the laptop. Then plug into the adapter. https://www.amazon.com/SABRENT-SATA-USB-Cable-Converter/dp/B011M8YACM
