FWIW, I keep a few rolls of this stuff lying around the shop. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BBV3NNTM It's specifically built for automotive wiring looms. I've used it on tons of projects, and it never lets me down. The cloth slides smoothly over metal and plastic, and it's tough as nails. I prefer it over electrical tape because it doesn't have that rubberized stickiness when it's routing around corners and stuff. I agree it'd be better of Chigee used an additional layer of sheathing on their harness.
