I have a similar size (above ground) pool and due to recent high heat started seeing algea growing early in the season here a few weeks ago. It will eat through the chlorine like crazy, and chlorine alone wont get rid of it. I was adding 2 gallons every few days while fighting it for about a week and a half. We have Rural King stores here that sell cases of 4 one gallon bottles (10%) shock for $16.99. I have an intex robot that clears the bottom surprisingly effectively: https://a.co/d/03CeXTSu I have intex skimmers with socks which usually provide the first visual indicator of algea with a discolored sock. Also, I test just about daily with this test kit, which is a very good indicator of pool health issues: https://a.co/d/0fbOZK9q On a normal shock, I would add 3-4 gallons and it would stay high for about 4 days. I also use two 3 inch floaters with 3 inch chlorine pucks. During an algea bloom, that 6 gallons was consumed in 24 hours and chlorine showed low out of range in the test kit the next day after showing high out of range a few hours after adding. I stay away from powder shock.
