I had the same problems until I caught a thread in a makeup sub on deodorant, where a bunch of people were talking about glycolic acid + serum AHA deodorant. I tried it and I'm never using anything else ever again. The musty smell comes from bacteria. Glycolic acid toner will remove that bacteria. Then the AHA deodorant keeps the skin slightly acidic to prevent the bacteria from replicating. Using glycolic acid once a week, and the deodorant daily, I haven't ever had that smell again.
