Yeah I have had trouble with the slime tubes as well. I had more luck with the slime or similar brand in a bottle added to the other tubes I linked. Good you were safe. These are my current tires they aren't higher end but have been holding up well but they add a few inches to the size of the wheel. I think replacing the tire will solve your problem.
